Meet Shazzareigh Nakoa-Chung, LMHCA

Aloha everyone my name is Shazzareigh Nakoa-Chung, I am from Oahu, Hawaii. I enjoy spending time with my family, playing softball and traveling around the world on my free time. I look forward to embracing all the historical places that the countries to offer, I also enjoy learning about the diverse cultures and the different ways therapist utilize therapeutic techniques in their craft.

My approach highlights the mutual development of goals for therapy and provision of ongoing evaluation of the therapeutic approach. I am trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Cognitive Behavioral therapy, Solution Focused Therapy and Reality therapy. I am invested in an approach that emphasizes a more integrative, dynamic, and holistic approach to mental health. I am particularly concerned with the impact of trauma and loss and improving interventions to support trauma recovery for better relationship, physical, and emotional health. My goal as a therapist is not to fix anyone but to help guide you to find the right path that will benefit you and add value to your life.

Approach and education

I completed my Bachelors Degree at Concordia University Portland in Clinical Psychology. I am currently finishing my Masters of Art in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from University of Western States. I have over 3 years of clinical experience across a variety of settings including private non-profits, in-patient psychiatric facilities, out-patient facilities and has 2 years working in the school setting working with children from 7-16 years of age. Services can include individual, couples, family, and group therapy. I focus my therapy working with children, teenagers, couples, families and minority groups.
