Allyssa McGuire, LMHC

Meet Allyssa McGuire, LMHC

My name is Allyssa McGuire (pronouns: she/her/hers) and I was born and raised in Michigan. In June 2022, I made the cross-country move to Vancouver with my three cats, Autumn, Everest, and Nevada. I have a love for animals and nature, and a deep passion for social justice. In my free time, I often curl up with my kitties and watch documentaries or one of my favorite TV shows, but I’m excited to spend some of that time exploring the Pacific Northwest!

I utilize a flexible, person-centered approach to tailor treatment to each client’s individual needs. When appropriate, I pull from Cognitive Behavioral, EMDR, Solution-Focused, and Mindfulness-Based Therapies. I aim to understand my clients as a whole person and help foster a better understanding of themself and a stronger sense of self-compassion. I am passionate about helping individuals productively cope with mental health concerns and life’s stresses. I am both excited and determined to provide clients with compassionate and non-judgmental care.

Approach and education

I earned my Bachelor of Science in Psychology and my Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Eastern Michigan University, where I also worked as an admissions advisor for years. From various angles, I have professionally assisted adults from a wide-range of backgrounds navigate major life changes. I provide individual counseling to adults for a wide range of concerns. I enjoy working with LGBTQIA+ identifying folx, and have experience with individuals in non-monogamous relationships. It is a great honor to walk alongside my clients in their journeys to find themselves.

“Don’t let your struggle become your identity.”
