Frequently Asked Questions
Is EMDR like hypnosis?
No. EMDR therapy does not use hypnosis for treatment although we do replicate the same eye movements that our bodies naturally use during REM sleep. During the process, you will be completely awake and aware of your surroundings. We use your emotions and physical sensations to help with the processing of memories with the goal of decreasing the negative reactions and feelings associated with past and present experiences.
How will EMDR help me?
EMDR can be used for a variety of symptoms including but not limited to trauma, depression, anxiety, phobias, addiction and overall stress. My goal is to help you discover your brain’s power to heal so that you can live a happy and healthy life. EMDR is the tool that can be used to find your inner strength and decrease any unwanted emotions.
Is there any reason to not use EMDR?
Yes. There are some medical conditions that would prevent EMDR from being a prospective therapy tool such as epilepsy and some heart conditions. Please seek medical advice from your provider before receiving EMDR therapy if there is any potential for increased medical risk.
Is EMDR the only therapeutic approach you use?
Not at all. While I believe that EMDR is a great therapeutic tool, I understand that it is not for everyone. I am also trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solutions-Focused Therapy, trauma recovery and psychoeducation. My goal is to use the therapeutic approach that fit my client’s needs.
What ages do you serve?
Everyone! EMDR not only works for all ages, I also have specific training and qualifications that enable me to work with children, teens and adults.

My clinician is an intern, does that change anything?
Our interns are a great addition to our clinical team. They provide important help and guidance for our clients. The only difference between an intern and a licensed clinician is time. We work hard to ensure that our interns meet the necessary standards for your care and they are under the direct supervision of a licensed therapist at all times.
Currently, our interns will not be accepting insurance. We offer intern sessions at a reduced rate of $60 per session.
