Anna Rico

Hi, I’m Anna! I am a Clinical Mental Health Counseling graduate student at Grand Canyon University, and I am excited to be working under the supervision and guidance of Vanessa Graff, LMHC, LPC, at Northwest EMDR Therapy, through the practicum and internship phase.

I have worked in insurance administration for decades, but in early 2020, I decided to embark on a career change and get working towards becoming a licensed mental health counselor. This decision was firmly grounded in my belief in the benefits of counseling and therapy because I know what it has done for me.

Meet Anna Rico

My hope is to help my clients envision the version of themselves they want to be and discover their unrealized strengths to maximize the change they want for their lives. I consider it an honored privilege to sit with someone and make important connections and create goals to get where they want to be. Whether relationship issues, career challenges, substance use, or trauma brings you to the counseling space, empathy, respect, and safety is what you will find when working with me. When appropriate, modalities like cognitive behavioral therapy and solution-focused therapy will be used to help clients establish and reach their goals. As a second-generation daughter of a Mexican immigrant, I also understand the impact culture can have on the way we see and experience the world around us and take that into consideration when working with clients.

In my free time, I am usually playing cards with family and friends, listening to records, watching documentaries, or listening to audio books, and hanging with my awesome little dogs, a 16-year-old Chiweenie and a 12-year-old Yorkie mix.
